L’Oréal has opened its largest Research & Innovation Center outside of France, a $140 million facility in Clark, New Jersey, that will serve as the brand’s central U.S. hub for advancing beauty science, inclusive product development, and sustainable innovation.

The new 250,000-square-foot center consolidates L’Oréal’s North America R&D teams under one roof, bringing together over 550 employees across product formulation, tech incubation, clinical testing, and digital innovation. It will focus on skin care, hair care, and makeup products tailored to the needs of U.S. consumers, with an emphasis on diverse skin tones, hair types, and beauty routines.


L’Oréal executives say the investment reflects the company’s long-term commitment to the U.S. market and its ambition to lead the next era of beauty innovation by embedding science, tech, and inclusivity into every stage of the development process.
