Siemens has agreed to acquire Dotmatics, a U.K.-based scientific informatics software firm, in a $5.1 billion deal that strengthens Siemens’ position in data-driven R&D and digital lab transformation.

Dotmatics provides cloud-based solutions that enable life sciences companies to manage, analyze, and visualize experimental data across drug discovery, biologics development, and materials science. The acquisition aligns with Siemens' strategy to expand its Xcelerator platform into high-growth verticals beyond industrial manufacturing, including biotech, pharma, and specialty chemicals.


Executives at Siemens said the deal accelerates their push into the convergence of physical and digital systems, allowing scientists to speed up innovation cycles using integrated AI and data analytics tools. The transaction is expected to close by year-end, pending regulatory approvals.
